Some people say that the secret to happiness is living in the moment. Well, that's good advice because if you can learn to live in the moment it will lead you down a path of lifelong happiness. However, what are 'moments' exactly? Most people might think they're just small moments of time that happen within an ongoing day or week, but what I found out is that moments are actually events which seem really significant for us at the time. Moments are also opportunities to learn something new and make life-changing decisions. Moments can be somewhat difficult to grasp because they happen so quickly, but here is an example: Let's say your boss asks you to go on a business trip with her. The flight leaves in two hours and she's already booked your flight, hotel room, all you have to do is pack. Now, when you wake up this morning you think that if you leave now you can be on that flight. You rush out the door and then soon realize that for some reason it takes longer than usual to get to the airport. While getting ready for the travel her boss suggests to go grab coffee with her, but because of traffic or something else, it takes much longer than usual to drive there. As you are waiting at the counter to order coffee with your boss, you see the flight board shows the flight has left already. Now when you are in that situation, is it possible to have a moment? Well, in fact it is possible because you are in an event with many opportunities for new learning and decision making. Those opportunities just happen so quickly around you that most of us miss them. However, if we slow down our perception of time then we can see all these moments in life that have passed us by, or moments that are happening right in front of our eyes but we didn't notice them at all. How can you slow down the perception of time? Well, it takes a lot of practice and inner growth to achieve this, but it's possible. The way to achieve the slowing down of perception is going back to what I said earlier about living in the moment. However, what does that mean to 'live in the moment'? It means just that: Living in the present. If you live only in the present then you become your life's observer. You will see all these opportunities at hand because you are not getting distracted by your own thoughts or other people's actions around you. You will also see that certain events in your life or in the world around you seem to repeat themselves over and over again. This is because most people are not living in the moment when they think about these things so they don't see them for what they really are. You might be thinking, "How can I change my life if I'm never in the present moment?" I thought that too when I first started out with the practice of living in the moment. Fortunately, my practice led me to live in the present moment pretty often and with each practicing session, I saw more moments coming into my life. With time, I realized that everything is always changing. cfa1e77820
